Everyone dreaded Riederer's class. Not because we thought we would fail. We all knew it was either an A, B, or C, and that our grade was determined pretty much before the class even began. What we hated was the man himself. He was belittling, rude, obnoxious, and inappreciative of hard work. On our second day of everyone's most feared class, Systems and Signals, Riederer assigned us all a problem: the infamous 3.19 to be turned in the following class day.
What we thought was just a homework problem turned out to be a full-blown test the following day, however, as we were presented with the problem before we had even had a chance to go over it in class. Looks of bewilderment, confusion, and fear came across the faces of the students as the Great Riederer passed out a test containing only the one problem.
